Stat Line Of The Night — 9/6/12 — Munchie Legaux
One week after giving up a total of 204 yards on the ground during a loss to Youngstown State, the Pittsburgh Panthers’ inability to defend the run continued on Thursday night, as they surrendered a total of 256 yards on the ground to their Big East rivals, the Cincinnati Bearcats. And leading the Bearcats’ ground attack was none other than quarterback Munchie Legaux.
The 6-foot-5 junior was a force to be reckoned with, totalling 117 yards on six carries (a whopping average of 19.5 yards per attempt), while airing the ball out for another 205 yards and two touchdowns, both to running back Ralph Abernathy. In the end, the Bearcats’ weapons in the backfield—Legaux included—were too much for the Panthers, as they cruised to the 34-10 victory.
Many questioned whether the Bearcats would be able to run the ball effectively following the departure of Isaiah Pead. They got their answer last night, as Legaux proved that he can make his team a serious contender in the Big East. And he also earned himself “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, September 6, 2012.
