Stat Line Of The Night — 9/17/12 — Cliff Lee
Stat Line Of The Night — 9/18/12 — Miguel Cabrera
The Detroit Tigers entered the 2012 season not only as heavy favorites to win the AL Central, but also as a popular pick to win the World Series. However, they entered last night’s game against the Oakland Athletics 3 games back of the White Sox for first in the AL Central, 5.5 games back in the Wild Card race, and in desperate need of a win.
They would earn that win, thanks in large part to the play of Miguel Cabrera, who led the Tigers’ offensive charge with two home runs, a double, and six RBI’s in four plate appearances. That was more than enough run support for the Tigers’ pitching staff, as they would go on to earn the 12-2 victory.
Unfortunately, the White Sox, Yankees and Orioles all won their respective games, so the Tigers were unable to gain any ground in the AL Central or Wild Card race. But that doesn’t stop Cabrera from earning “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, September 18, 2012.
