Exactly one week ago, Cristiano Ronaldo dealt Manchester City fans a devastating blow when his 90th minute goal completed a Real Madrid comeback, giving them the 3-2 UEFA Champions League Group Stage victory over Man City.  However, that wasn’t the only painful blow inflicted on the City fans that day, as dozens of supporters who made the trip to the Estadio Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid were greeted with the batons of several Spanish police officers.

According to YouTuber David Dubas-Fisher, who captured the entire incident on tape, the City fans were merely drinking and singing prior to the highly anticipated match when they were suddenly attacked “without reason or provocation.”  He provided an account of the events on his website (you can check out the entire thing here), which included the following description of the scene that unfolded on the streets of Madrid last Tuesday:

Blood was pouring from heads, and men laid out unconscious in the streets. Last night, Manchester City’s fans learned the hard way that the Spanish Police haven’t changed much since General Franco died in 1975.

I’m not exactly sure what the Spanish Officers from General Franco’s regime were like, but after watching the following video, I’ll simply assume that they weren’t the most friendly individuals.
