Stat Line Of The Night — 9/24/12 — Chris Clemons
Stat Line Of The Night — 9/25/12 — Anibal Sanchez
When the 2012 MLB season began, everyone expected to see the Detroit Tigers at the top of the American League Central standings. Well, it may have taken them 154 games, but they finally got there, thanks in large part to a terrific performance on the mound from pitcher Anibal Sanchez.
The Tigers’ 28-year-old righty was nearly unhittable throughout the night, as he allowed just three hits and one walk while striking out ten batters during his complete-game shutout performance. It was just the type of outing the Tigers needed from Sanchez, as their bats could only muster two runs, but that was all they would need, as they defeated the Royals by a score of 2-0.
With the win, Detroit moves into a tie with the Chicago White Sox for first place in the AL Central with only eight games remaining in the season. As for Sanchez, he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, September 25, 2012.
