Stat Line Of The Night — 10/14/12 — Aaron Rodgers
On year after putting together a remarkable 15-1 record during the regular season, the Green Bay Packers have struggled out of the gate, winning just two of their first five games thus far in 2012. And it didn’t appear as though things would get any easier for Aaron Rodgers and company, as they were set to take on the undefeated Houston Texans in week six. But despite being up against what was assumed to be one of the league’s top defensive units, A-Rod came up with his best performance of the season, as he returned to the form that saw him earn 2011 NFL MVP honors.
The Texans entered last night’s contest having allowed just six touchdown passes against through their first five games this season, but that total would double after Rodgers was through with them, as the Packers quarterback connected on 24 of his 37 attempts for 338 yards and an incredible six touchdowns. Jordy Nelson was on the receiving end of three of those touchdown passes, James Jones caught two and Tom Crabtree caught the other, as Rodgers finished with a 133.8 passer rating during the Packers’ 42-24 victory.
In addition to doubling his touchdown total on the season (12) and upping his passer rating to a league-high 105.4, Rodgers also helps the Packers improve their record to 3-3, leaving them one win back of the Vikings (who lost to the Redskins) and the idle Bears in the NFC North. And his six-touchdown performance makes him an easy pick for the “Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, October 14, 2012.
