It was on this day in 1993 that the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 8-6 in Game 6 of the World Series.  With the win, the Blue Jays clinched their second of back-to-back World Series titles.

The 1993 World Series will forever be remembered for how it ended, as it was just the second time in MLB history that a World Series title was won on a walk-off home run.

The Blue Jays got out to a quick start and had a 5-1 lead going into the seventh inning, but the Phillies came storming back with a five-run seventh, and they headed into the ninth inning with a 6-5 lead.  That was when the magic would begin to unfold.  After a walk to Ricky Henderson, a fl

y-out from Devon White and a single from Paul Molitor, Joe Carter stepped up to the plate with two-on and one out, and proceeded to hit a two-strike pitch over the left-field fence, giving the Jays the 8-6 victory and their second World Series title in as many years.

In addition to watching Joe jump for joy as he rounded the bases, this walk-off home run will also be remembered for the late Tom Cheek's memorable call.
