Valencia’s Roberto Soldado Scores Wonder Goal, Stomps Falcao’s Face Vs. Atletico Madrid (Videos)
At first, things were looking good for Atletico Madrid on Saturday in their Liga game against Valencia. They were the ones applying all the pressure early in the game, getting three brilliant scoring chances at the 12, 14, and 17-minutes marks.
However, after the third of these chances, Atletico’s luck took a turn for the worse. Arda Turan sent a header low toward the goal that was saved by Valencia keeper Diego Alves, and Radamel Falcao was prevented from reaching the juicy rebound because of an obvious hold by Joao Pereira. Then, injury was added to insult when Valencia’s Roberto Soldado accidentally stomped on Falcao’s face with his cleats while the Atletico midfielder was lying on the ground.
And yes, there was blood. Check it out:
This turned out to be a bad omen for the previously undefeated Atletico. Only three minutes later, the very guy who stepped on Falcao’s head and forced him to leave the field to get stitched up made it 1-0 on a ridiculously amazing volley.
Take a look:
Obviously, it just wasn’t meant to be for Atletico Madrid. They went on to lose 2-0, causing them to fall three points behind first place Barcelona.
