The Sky Was Falling At The Sleep Train Arena Last Night (Video)
On February 27 of this year, it appeared as though the Sacramento Kings would be getting themselves a new arena in downtown Sacramento, a move which in all likelihood would guarantee that the team remains in the capital of California. However, that deal fell through on April 13 when the Maloof family announced their intentions to back out of the deal.
That move means the Kings could very well be leaving Sacramento as early as next season, but in the meantime, they continue to play in the run-down,
ARCO Arena Power Balance Pavilion Sleep Train Arena.
And during last night’s game against the Golden State Warriors, that 24-year-old venue was literally falling apart on top of them.
Don’t believe me? Check out this footage of Kings coach Keith Smart picking up a giant black tarp after it had fallen on the court and caused a stoppage in play:
If trying to win games wasn’t already hard enough for the 1-3 Kings, now they’ll have to do so while avoiding fallen debris. Although on this occasion it seemed to work in their favor, as they escaped with the 94-92 victory.
