Lance Armstrong Tweeted a Big “F You” to His Critics Over The Weekend
Lance Armstrong has been accused of doping by practically every teammate he had during his unprecedented run of seven straight Tour de France titles. And of course, the United States Anti-Doping Agency has concluded that he doped, and that he bullied his teammates into doping. So they recommended that the International Cycling Union strip him of his titles, which they did.
So has Lance just come clean and apologized for his actions?
By all accounts, this is one of the most arrogant guys on the planet. Thus, even though he decided not to contest the USADA’s findings—which some, including yours truly, construed as a tacit admission of guilt—he’s maintained he did not dope, and that everyone else is lying.
And then yesterday afternoon he tweeted this:
I may be wrong, but I think the guy is basically saying, “f— you dudes, you can’t take my titles away from me.”
However, this strategy is not likely to win many people over. Sure, Lance still has his die-hard supporters. And I respect the fact that they can’t bear to see their hero ruined, so I really don’t begrudge them anything. But to the rest of us, Lance is starting to look like one of the great sports douches of all time.
And it’s not just me. Check out some of the reactions from Twitter users to his post:
So where do you stand? Is Lance Armstrong a true American hero who was just the target of an unfair witch hunt? Or is he an arrogant bastard who refused to see the writing on the wall?
