Stat Line of the Night — 12/02/2012 — Andrew Luck
Shout out to Adrian Peterson and Calvin Johnson, who each had monster performances during yesterday’s NFL action. Peterson rushed for 210 yards and a touchdown while Johnson racked up 13 receptions for 171 yards and a touchdown, but both of these individuals’ performances resulted in losses for their respective teams. And when it comes to the “Stat Line of the Night,” we aren’t interested in losers. We want winners, and that is exactly what Andrew Luck was on Sunday–a winner.
Luck entered yesterday’s match-up against the Detroit Lions with four game-winning drives on the season, and he recorded his fifth when he took the Colts 75 yards in 1:07 and hit Donnie Avery for a 14-yard touchdown with no time left to lead his team to the unimaginable 35-33 comeback victory.
Indianapolis found themselves trailing 33-21 with under three minutes left, and at the time, Luck had thrown three interceptions. But his two touchdowns in the final 2:39 of the game made up for his earlier errors, as he finished the game with 24 completions for 391 yards and four touchdowns. It was the type of performance that ought to earn him some additional consideration for Offensive Rookie of the Year, as well as “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, December 2, 2012.
