This Is Why High Schools Shouldn’t Hold Slam Dunk Contests (Video)
Slam dunk contests are pretty cool, right? Guys doing spins, windmills, through-the-legs, double-pumps, tomahawks, and all that good stuff—I mean, what’s not to like?
But here’s the thing: yes, slam dunk contests are awesome, but when they do it on TV they make it look a lot easier than it really is. Dunking itself is hard enough for 95% of the world’s basketball players, but making it special by adding acrobatics? That’s even harder.
So I really wouldn’t recommend that high schools hold dunking contests unless they have freakishly athletic kids like LeBron James or something. If they do continue to hold them, the kids are just going to end up injuring themselves…like this kid did:
Not pretty, is it? I wonder what he hurt more: his ankle, or his ego?
Still, it could have been worse. At least this kid didn’t try to jump over a ball rack like that guy we showed you yesterday.
Or, he could have been this guy.
