Mark Wahlberg Challenges Tie Domi to a Charity Boxing Match (Video)
Mark Wahlberg is actively involved in several different charities, as the actor has sacrificed plenty of cash and time to help those in need. And it appears as though “Marky Mark” is also willing to risk sacrificing a few teeth for a good cause, as the man who played Mickey Ward in The Fighter recently challenged former NHL tough guy Tie Domi to a boxing match.
During a recent trip to Toronto, Wahlberg teamed up with Tie for CIBC's Miracle Day. Wondering how CIBC's Miracle Day works? Here's a description from <a tit
le=”About CIBC Miracle Day ” href=”https://www.cibc.com/ca/inside-cibc/community-matters/miracle-day.html” target=”_blank”>their website:
“Every year, on the first Wednesday in December, CIBC’s wholesale banking employees and participating CIBC Wood Gundy Investment Advisors donate their fees and commissions to help kids in need. Since its inception, Miracle Day has raised $64 million for children’s charities across Canada and $214 million globally.”
Seems like an awfully nice gesture, but Wahlberg wanted to give more. So while he and Domi were standing on the podium, Mark challenged Tie to a charity boxing match at the Air Canada Centre, with all the proceeds (including Domi's knocked out teeth) going to charity.
You can check out the footage below. The challenge begins at the 3:33 mark:
Unfortunately, Domi declined. I guess that's bad news for the kids, but it's probably very good news for Mark Wahlberg's acting career, not to mention his health.
