Stat Line of the Night — 12/11/2012 — Carmelo Anthony
Heading into the 2012-13 NBA season, many believed that the New York Knicks were too old, but at this point their age doesn’t seem to be stopping them from piling up the wins. And they added another last night, thanks to some fine work from their 28-year-old all-star, Carmelo Anthony.
There were moments throughout the night when it appeared as though Melo simply couldn’t miss, as he connected on 15 of his 24 field-goal attempts, and five of his seven attempts from beyond the arc, en route to a season-high 45 points. He would also add five rebounds and three assists on the night, as the Knicks emerged with the 100-97 victory over the Brooklyn Nets.
With the win, the Knicks now sit alone atop the Eastern Conference, one game clear of the Miami Heat. There is still plenty of basketball to be played, but if Carmelo Anthony can continue to come up with performances like this one, we shouldn’t be surprised to see them still at the top come season’s end. For now, Melo earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, December 11, 2012.
