Stat Line of the Night — 12/27/2012 — Kevin Durant
The past two Western Conference champions faced off on national television last night, as the Oklahoma City Thunder hosted the Dallas Mavericks. And despite being able to hang in their and take this game to overtime, in the end, the 2011 NBA Champs were simply no match for Kevin Durant and the 2012 NBA Finalists.
As is usually the case, Durant led the charge for the Thunder, scoring a game-high 40 points to go along with eight rebounds, five assists, three blocks and a steal. All of KD’s points came during regulation, as he was held scoreless in overtime. But apparently, the Thunder didn’t need any more scoring from their superstar, as they still managed to emerge with the 111-105 victory.
Last night’s performance marked just the second time this season that Durant has scored at least 40 points in a game. On this occasion, it helped the Thunder snap their two-game losing streak, while earning him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, December 27, 2012.
