Stat Line of the Night — 1/22/2013 — Kyrie Irving
The Cleveland Cavaliers don’t have much, and that is reflected in their abysmal 11-35 record this season. But the one thing they do have is Kyrie Irving, and on Tuesday night that was all they needed.
Irving was on fire, as he torched the struggling Boston Celtics with 40 points on 16-of-24 shooting during last night’s game at the Quicken Loans Center. He would also add five assists, three rebounds and two steals, as his Cavs came away with the 95-90 victory.
Despite his team’s poor record, Irving has been having himself quite the season, averaging 23.7 points, 5.7 assists and 1.8 steals per game. Those numbers should help him earn his first career NBA All-Star Game appearance in February, but for now he’ll have to settle with “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, January 22, 2013.
