J.R. Smith Towel-Bombed Chris Paul Yesterday (Video)
Yesterday afternoon at Madison Square Garden, as the Los Angeles Clippers’ Chris Paul was giving an interview to ESPN before he headed off to the locker room at halftime, the All-Star guard was towl-bombed by J.R. Smith.
That may not sound like a big deal to you. After all, athletes get pranked by their teammates while doing interviews all the time. However, if you think this, then obviously you do not follow the NBA. You see, J.R. Smith plays for the Knicks, not the Clippers. So Paul got towel-bombed (which is like a photobomb, only with a towel) by a guy on the opposing team.
How did CP handle it? Like a pro. The guy didn’t even blink. He just picked right up with what he was saying.
The ESPN sideline reporter? She wasn’t quite as stoic. In fact, she was pretty amused until she realized Chris Paul wasn’t.
Take a look:
And here’s a GIF:
Of course, this is the kind of stuff we’ve come to expect from J.R. Smith. Despite tremendous ability, the guy continually engages in wacky antics that have branded him as one of the biggest clowns in the NBA. And this obviously won’t do anything to change that rep.
It also didn’t do anything to change the outcome of the game. LA was up 52-44 at the half and would go on to beat the Knicks by a score of 102-88. But seriously, keep hamming it up, J.R..
