Stat Line of the Night — 2/12/2013 — Craig Anderson
Last night’s game between the Buffalo Sabres and the Ottawa Senators pitted the NHL’s top scorer, Thomas Vanek, against the league’s top goaltender, Craig Anderson. And the winner of that battle, by unanimous decision, was the Sens’ netminder.
In his first ten startsheading into Tuesday’s contest, Anderson had allowed just 15 goals against. And following his eleventh start of the season, he has still allowed just 15 goals against, as he stopped all 42 shots he faced from the Buffalo shooters, leading the Senators to the 2-0 victory over their division rivals.
The shutout was Anderson’s second of the season, tying him with three other goaltenders for tops in the league in that category. His 1.36 goals against average and .956 save percentage also rank first among all NHL goalies, and his 42-save performance against the Sabres earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, February 12, 2013.
