Stat Line of the Night — 2/20/2013 — Jakub Voracek
Last night’s game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins featured several of hockey’s biggest superstars, like Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin and Claude Giroux. However, on this occasion, no player’s star was shining brighter than that of Flyers forward, Jakub Voracek.
During what was expected to be a high-scoring affair between these two in-state rivals, Voracek provided a healthy chunk of the goals all on his own, as he capped off his first career hat-trick by scoring the game-winning goal with 1:31 remaining in the third period to give the Flyers the 6-5 victory.
That impressive performance against the Pens bumps Voracek’s point total on the season to 18 (6 goals, 12 assists). That’s good enough to place him in a tie for eleventh among NHL scorers, and he also earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, February 20, 2013.
