LeBron James Performs a 360°, Through-The-Legs, Off-The-Backboard Dunk in Warm-Ups (Video)
LeBron James Performs Another Ridiculous Dunk During Pre-Game Warmups (Video)
Prior to last year, I understood why LeBron James never wanted to participate in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest. It wasn’t because he could get injured. It was because the expectations people would have for his performance in such a contest would be off the charts and impossible to live up to.
Think about it. The guy has been the subject of insane hype since he was in high school. If he took part in the dunk contest, people would be expecting a 720° through-the-legs tomahawk double backflip dunk. And even if he did that, it wouldn’t look as impressive as it sounds because LeBron is 6’8″ and so incredibly athletic that he makes everything look easy.
So, really, the guy didn’t need to put any more pressure on himself. What he really needed to do was win a championship.
Of course, now he’s done that. He got his ring, and even if he never wins another, he will still go down as an all-time great. So this year would have been a great time for LeBron to take part in the dunk contest. But he didn’t. And now it seems the guy is rubbing “the decision” in our faces (see what I did there?) by performing ridiculous dunks during warmup shoot-arounds.
On Sunday there was a 360°, through-the-legs, off-the-backboard dunk. And now we have this:
Oh, what’s that? A self-ally-oop through-the-legs dunk? Sure, no prob.
I’ve been holding off for a while, but I think I’m just going to have to suck it up and pay a couple hundred bucks to go see this guy play in person the next time he’s in town.
