Joe Mauer, a.k.a. Mr. Twin, Is Having Twins!
We already knew that Joe Mauer was Mr. Minnesota. The guy played baseball, basketball, and football for Cretin-Derham Hall High School in Saint Paul and became the first person ever to be selected as USA Today’s High School Player of the year in two sports—football in 2000, baseball in 2001. But of course, he turned down a football scholarship from Florida State because his hometown Minnesota Twins had the first pick in the 2001 draft and they wanted him.
So then the guy goes on to star for the Twins, becoming the first catcher ever to win three batting titles. And he throws in a couple of Gold Gloves and an MVP, too, before signing a gigantic 8-year, $184 million deal that will keep him in Minnesota for life.
I mean, can the guy be any more of a hometown hero?
Actually, yes. He dumped a North Carolina beauty queen back in 2006, then dated, got engaged, and finally married a girl named Madeline Bisanz. Where is she from? Minnesota. In fact, they went to the same high school.
And are you ready for the big news? Mauer and his wife are now expecting…TWINS!
I wonder if they were concieved naturally, of if he had to use some sort of PED?
Seriously, though, you can’t make this stuff up. Congrats to the Mauers!
