Stat Line of the Night — 3/4/2013 — Jeff Carter
Stat Line of the Night — 3/5/2013 — Russell Westbrook
Defending against the Oklahoma City Thunder’s offense is no easy task and the Los Angeles Lakers learned that lesson firsthand last night. Sure, they were able to hold the NBA’s top scorer, Kevin Durant, to just(?) 26 points, but they had no answer for Russell Westbrook.
The Thunder’s all-star guard was having his way with the Lakers, as he recorded 37 points to go along with 10 rebounds, five assists, two steals and just one turnover. And most impressive of all was the fact that Westbrook needed just 36 minutes to reach those totals, as he played sparingly down the stretch during the Thunder’s 122-105 victory.
While Durant tends to get most of the attention, Westbrook has been having himself an equally impressive season thus far, as he currently ranks sixth in the league in scoring (23.6 ppg), fifth in assists (7.8 apg), seventh in steals (1.85 per game) and first among all point guards in rebounding (5.3 rpg). And now he earns the “Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, March 5, 2013.
