Stat Line of the Night — 3/11/2013 — Dustin Brown
The Los Angeles Kings continued their winning ways last night, defeating the Calgary Flames by a score of 3-1 to claim their 11th victory in their last 14 games. And on this occasion, it was captain Dustin Brown leading the charge for the defending Stanley Cup champions.
Brown entered the game looking for his first goal in the month of March, and he got it 5:39 into the contest, as he opened the scoring with a powerplay marker. He followed that up by scoring his second of the month, and eighth of the season, into the empty net late in the third period, sealing the victory for the Kings.
With the win, the Kings now move into fourth place in the Western Conference, with 30 points in 24 games. Considering the fact that they won the Stanley Cup last season as the #8 seed, I’d say the Kings are sitting awfully pretty right about now. Their captain has certainly done his part to ensure his team’s continued success, and in this instance it has earned Dustin Brown “The State Line of the Night” for Monday, March 11, 2013.
