Nick Diaz Accused Georges St-Pierre of Using Steroids Ahead of Their UFC 158 Bout (Audio)
On Saturday at the Bell Centre in Montréal, Georges St-Pierre will be defending his welterweight titles against Nick Diaz in UFC 158. However, despite the fact that the bout is still a day away, the first punch has already been thrown.
On Thursday, in an interview with Sportsnet Radio after a UFC press conference at the Bell Centre, Diaz did all of the following:
- accused GSP of taking steroids
- accused UFC of not caring if GSP takes steroids
- accused the Quebec Athletic Commission of not properly regulating the event
- accused the UFC of making sure GSP is a champion
- said being an MMA fighter sucks
Diaz said “the sport right now is geared toward” a “big guy on steroids.” And when the interviewer pressed him to clarify, asking Diaz whether that “big guy on steroids” was GSP, Diaz replied in the affirmative.
“I believe [Georges St-Pierre] is on plenty of steroids, and I don’t think they test around here, either,” Diaz explained. “I doubt I’ll be tested. I don’t care what they’re saying or marketing to the media. And if [they do test us] he’s probably got a bottle of p*ss in his pocket.”
After this, Diaz went on to talk about how much it sucks to be a UFC fighter, and that he pretty much only does it because he’s put all his eggs in that basket and needs to make a living.
Here’s the interview in it’s entirety. The good stuff begins at the 11:57 mark.
How’s that for some pre-fight publicity? Nick Diaz says in 3 minutes what it would take UFC blowhard Chael Sonnen to say in 15 minutes.
I’m thinking Dana White is probably not too happy about this…and the same probably goes for about 5 million GSP fans.
