Stat Line of the Night — 3/20/2013 — LeBron James
For a moment it appeared as though the Cleveland Cavaliers were (fittingly) going to end the Miami Heat’s winning streak at 23 games, as they held a 27 point lead over the defending NBA champions with less than eight minutes remaining in the third quarter. But that only seemed to awaken the sleeping giant they call “LeBron James.”
With his team trailing and their streak hanging in the balance, LeBron fueled the comeback with his 19 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks over the final 20 minutes of the game. His efforts at both ends of the court helped bring the Heat all the way back from nearly 30 down in the third quarter, to leading just two minutes into the fourth quarter. He would go on to finish the game with 25 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, three steals and two blocks, as the Heat escaped the Quicken Loans Arena with a 98-95 victory.
With the win, the Heat extend their winning streak to 24 games, leaving them just nine wins back of the 1971-72 Lakers for longest winning streak in NBA history. As for LeBron, his latest triple-double gives him four on the season, and it also earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, March 20, 2013.
