Stat Line of the Night — 4/1/2013 — Clayton Kershaw
Stat Line of the Night — 4/2/2013 — Yu Darvish
Yu Darvish was solid during his rookie campaign with the Texas Rangers in 2012, as he posted a 16-9 record, 221 strikeouts and a 3.90 ERA. As for his sophomore season in the majors, it nearly started of perfectly for the 26-year-old righty from Japan.
Making his first start of the 2013 season, Darvish came within one out of a perfect game. Unfortunately, his bid for perfection ended with a single off the bat of Marwin Gonzalez with two outs in the ninth, but he still finished the game with 14 strikeouts and just one hit allowed on 111 pitches over 8 2/3 innings. That was enough to give the Rangers the 7-0 victory, while earning Darvish the “Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, April 2, 2013.
