Boston Marathon Explosion: Footage From a Runner’s Point of View (Video)
Taking out a camera and filming the scene while approaching the finish line is a common occurrence among Boston Marathon runners. The intent is to capture the joyful atmosphere, as runners are cheered by the hundreds of fans crowding both sides of the course as their long run nears its conclusion; however, the scene captured by one Boston Marathon runner as she approached the finish line yesterday afternoon was anything but joyful.
What you are about to see is a video that was uploaded to YouTube by an individual whose mom was running in the Boston Marathon. As the mother was nearing the finish line, she took out her camera to record the footage, but before she could even finish the race, the first explosion went off.
Take a look:
According to the YouTube description, the woman was unable to finish the race, but what matters most is that she was able to safely escape this massacre unharmed. Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case for all of those who attended the 2013 Boston Marathon, as three people have been pronounced dead (including an eight-year-old boy), 17 are in critical condition, and over 170 individuals in total were injured.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to those affected by this tragedy. We will continue to provide you with updates on the situation as they are released to the public.
