Stat Line of the Night — 4/18/2013 — Logan Couture
The San Jose Sharks have all but locked up a spot in the playoffs, but with a 16-1-5 record at home this season, and an 8-12-2 record on the road, you can bet that they would love to surpass the Los Angeles Kings in their battle for fourth-place in the Western Conference and home ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs. Both teams entered last night tied with 53 points apiece, and while the Kings earned two points for their 2-1 victory over the Blue Jackets, the Sharks were able to keep pace thanks to a strong offensive performance from Logan Couture.
Taking on the Minnesota Wild, who were only three points behind the Sharks entering the game, Couture led the way for San Jose with two goals, two assists and a plus-3 rating during their dominating 6-1 victory.
With the win, the Sharks remain tied with the Kings at 55 points. Each team has four games remaining and they will be important ones in determining their playoff positioning. More games like this one from Couture would certainly help the Sharks’ chances of clinching home-ice advantage in the first round, but for now he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, April 18, 2013.
