Stat Line of the Night — 4/24/2013 — Robert Lewandowski
While the first UEFA Champions League semi-final match-up was being pegged as a battle between two powerhouse clubs in Barcelona and Bayern Munich, the second was being viewed more so as a battle between two powerhouse strikers in Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Borussia Dortmund’s Robert Lewandowski.
And at the moment, it is Lewandowski who owns a clear upper hand.
Looking to make the most of their home game in this two-leg semi-final, Lewandowski made sure that Borussia Dortmund did just that. The Polish international recorded goals in the 8th, 50th, 55th and 67th minutes, easily outscoring Ronaldo (who scored one goal) during his club’s dominating 4-1 victory over Real Madrid.
With the win, Dortmund are in the driver’s seat heading into the second leg, with a great chance to set up an all-German Champions League Final against Bayern. As for Lewandowski, he now has 10 goals in Champions League play. That leaves him just two behind Ronaldo for the lead, but he should find himself playing in one more game than his Portuguese counterpart following yesterday’s performance, which earned him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, April 24, 2013.
