Jets Fans Unhappy with Team’s Draft Picks, Chant “WE SUCK! WE SUCK!” at MetLife Stadium (Videos)
Here’s a nice little tale of two cities—and two fanbases.
When the folks in Kansas City learned their team had selected left tackle Eric Fisher with the number one overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, they weren’t exactly thrilled (except for that one guy), but they weren’t upset, either. Everybody would love to see their team select someone exciting like RGIII with a top pick, but these folks understood that there simply were not a lot of premium offensive players on the board and that their team really needed to beef up their offensive line. So they politely applauded.
As for New York Jets fans, they reacted to their team’s selections a little differently. These people have been worn down by years of asinine mediocrity, and they are from the New York metropolitan area, and their team’s offense was the laughing stock of the league last year. So when the Jets used the ninth overall pick to replace CB Darrelle Revis with Dee Milliner, and then used the thirteenth overall pick to select DT Sheldon Richardson, their fans weren’t happy.
Here is the reaction of one fan watching the draft live at the Radio City Music Hall in New York:

I don’t know much about running a pro football team, but I’m pretty sure that, if fans are chanting “WE SUCK!” on a day that’s supposed to be all about optimism, then you’re probably doing something wrong.
