Jon “Bones” Jones Beat Chael Sonnen With a Disgusting Broken Toe (Photo)
After dominating his opponent from the get-go, Jones put an end to the bout just 4:33 into the first round. It was yet another impressive title defense for the 25-year-old champion, but some would argue that he was only 27 seconds away from losing his first fight in over three years. You see, after the victory, during his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Jones noticed that his big left toe was broken, and while he was able to battle through the pain and force a first-round stoppage against Sonnen, even UFC President Dana White seemed certain that if Sonnen would have lasted just 27 more seconds, “[the doctors] would have stopped the fight [at the end of round 1].”
Unfortunately for Chael, that wasn’t the case, resulting in Jones’ fifth successful title defense. As for his sixth title defense, many are wondering who it will be against, but the bigger question is when will it be, as it could take some time for the champ to recover from this nasty injury.
