Stat Line of the Night — 5/1/2013 — Jordan Zimmerman
Stat Line of the Night — 5/2/2013 — Craig Anderson
Hockey goaltenders that allow two goals against over the course of a 60 minutes game are rarely awarded the “Stat Line of the Night,” but there is always the occasional exception.
Take Craig Anderson‘s performance during Game One of the Ottawa Senators’ first round playoff series against the Montreal Canadiens, for example. You see, while Anderson did allow two goals against during a one-minute span in the second period, he was flawless throughout the course of the other 59 minutes of the game, making a ridiculous 48 saves to help secure the Sens’ 4-2 victory.
Of the 16 NHL teams that made the playoffs this season, the Sens tallied the least number of goals for during the regular season, but they also allowed the second-fewest goals against. So it goes without saying that their goaltending has been a key factor to their success this season, and it was once again during their first game of the post-season. As a result, Anderson earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, May 2, 2013.
