Stat Line of the Night — 5/5/2013 — Jean-Gabriel Pageau
While most of us will probably remember Game 3 of the first round playoff series between the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens for the ridiculous number of penalties that were handed out in the third period, Jean-Gabriel Pageau will always remember it as the game when he scored his first career NHL playoff goal and recorded his first career NHL hat-trick.
Pageau’s first goal came on a breakaway in the second period, which gave the Senators the 2-1 lead. And the 20-year-old forward followed that up with another two goals in the third period, the last of which sealed the Senators’ 6-1 victory over the Habs.
Scoring goals hasn’t been the Sens’ forte this season, but it was on Sunday thanks to the hot stick of Pageau, as his hat-trick helped give the Sens the 2-1 series lead, while earning himself “The Stat Line of the Night” for Sunday, May 5, 2013.
