Blues Jays Shortstop Munenori Kawasaki Gives Perhaps the Best Post-Game Interview of All-Time (Videos)
Toronto Blue Jays fans had high hopes heading into the 2013 MLB season. Or at least, the ones who aren’t raging drunks did.
Unfortunately, not much has worked out so far. The team has sputtered through the first two months and, despite a recent improvement, they still sit in last place in the AL East.
There has been one bright side, however. His name is Munenori Kawasaki, he is a 31-year-old Japanese shortstop, and he has been a fan-favorite since the day he got called up from triple-A to replace injured superstar Jose Reyes.
So what’s the deal with this guy? Why is he a fan-favorite? Because of stuff like this:
This classic post-game interview was from Sunday’s game against the Orioles. The light-hitting Kawasaki had just hit a two-run walk-off double off Baltimore closer Jim Johnson in the bottom of the 9th inning to cap a four-run comeback. And while the guy may not know English, he definitely knows comedy.
The hilarity continued in the locker room, too. Here’s what Kawasaki had to say to the media during the post-game scrum:
Does anyone else get the feeling that this guy actually speaks perfect English, and that he’s just f**king with us? Man, that would be amazing.
