Lightning Strikes Gateway Arch During Rain Delay Between Royals and Cardinals (Video)
These days, it seems as though rain delays in Major League Baseball are actually producing more highlights than the games themselves.
On Wednesday, there was that battle between the tarp and the Texas Rangers grounds crew, which was awfully one-sided in favor of the tarp.
And yesterday, during a delay in a game between the Kansas City Royals and the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium, there was a thunder storm that was highlighted by a giant bolt of lightning that struck Missouri’s Gateway Arch, which can be seen just beyond the outfield bleachers.
The Cardinals’ broadcast team caught it all on video, and they were kind enough to share it with everyone during the lengthy delay that paused the game for 4 hours and 32 minutes in the top of the ninth inning.
