Aaron Hernandez Arrested, Released by Patriots
That’s right. Hernandez is now a “former” member of the Patriots after the team released the 23-year-old shortly after he was arrested at his home by Massachusetts State Police at approximately 9 a.m. ET on Wednesday. Charges have not been disclosed at the moment, so it remains to be seen if the arrest was for obstruction of justice after Hernandez destroyed his cell phone and the security system at his home, or if it is the result of additional charges stemming from his involvement in the murder of Odin Lloyd.
Here’s a look at cops escorting a handcuffed Hernandez out of his home and into a police cruiser:
Lloyd, a 27-year-old acquaintance of Hernandez, was found shot dead in an industrial park near Hernandez’s home last Monday. According to reports, Lloyd was with Hernandez and two other men at a downtown bar the night of Sunday, June 16. He then got into a car with the three men, but evidence suggests that he was no longer in said car when it arrived at Hernandez’s home later that night. What happened during the time between Hernandez’s departure from the Boston bar and his arrival back home remains a mystery, but it is believed that Lloyd’s murder occurred at some point within that time frame.
We should begin to learn more about this case following Hernandez’s arraignment, which is scheduled to take place sometime today. In the meantime, we can certainly begin to ponder whether Hernandez’s release and Rob Gronkowski‘s injury woes will force the Patriots to experiment with Tim Tebow at the tight end position.
