Stat Line of the Night — 6/27/2013 — Derek Holland
After losing six in a row earlier this month, the Texas Rangers found themselves on a roll heading into yesterday’s game at Yankee Stadium, having won six of their last seven. And their winning ways continued, thanks in large part to the pitching of Derek Holland.
The Rangers’ lefty was at his best on Thursday, as he recorded his first complete-game shutout of the 2013 season, and the sixth of his career. He allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out seven during his 92-pitch outing, which resulted in a 2-0 victory for the Rangers over the New York Yankees.
With the win, the Rangers move half a game ahead of the Oakland A’s for top spot in the AL West. As for Holland, his record improves to 6-4 with a 3.14 ERA, and he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, June 27, 2013.
