Charl Schwartzel Smashes His 6 Iron to Pieces at the British Open (GIF)

Charl Schwartzel broken 6 iron

So far today, 2011 Masters Champion Charl Schwartzel is doing pretty well. He recently entered the clubhouse following his second round at the 2013 British Open, and through those 18 holes he recorded three birdies and no bogies for a score of -3.

The cause of Schwartzel’s success in round two? He obviously put the fear of God into his golf clubs yesterday when he viciously broke his 6-iron in half, and now they’re all on their best behavior.

During yesterday’s opening round, you see, Schwartzel was even-par through the first 11 holes. But then he hit a rough patch on 12, 13, and 14, hitting three consecutive bogies. And when he started off the 15th hole by hitting his drive into the tall grassy rough (the same stuff that led to this earlier in the day), well, the guy had just about had it with his stupid bullsh*t 6-iron’s insubordination. So he smashed it to the ground, completely snapping the shaft in half.

I don’t know if Schwartzel then placed the decapitated head of his 6-iron on a spike or anything, but like I said, the demonstration of violence obviously worked. Today his clubs all have their sh*t together and he is back to a respectable +1 for the tournament.
