Stat Line of the Night — 7/22/2013 — Matt Moore
Stat Line of the Night — 7/23/2013 — Chris Herrmann
It always feels good to award the “Stat Line of the Night” to some guy that barely anyone has ever heard of, and today just so happens to be another one of those instances, as we award the honor to Minnesota Twins third-string catcher Chris Herrmann.
That’s right. Herrmann plays behind both Joe Mauer and Ryan Doumit on the Twins, which means he rarely gets the opportunity to show us what he’s got, but he had that chance last night and he didn’t disappoint, delivering a grand slam, two singles and four RBIs during a 10-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels.
Herrmann has now played in just nine games this season, compiling a .409 average at the plate to go along with two homers and eight RBIs. At the age of 25, he hasn’t had many opportunities in the Majors, but with performances like last night’s, he could begin to see more, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, July 23, 2013.
