Stat Line of the Night — 8/6/2013 — Andrew Albers
After climbing through the ranks of the Minnesota Twins farm system and doing enough to impress the team’s management, Andrew Albers was finally given the opportunity to start his first career Major League Baseball game at the age of 27 last night. And despite taking on one of the hottest teams in baseball in the Kansas City Royals, Albers did not disappoint in his big league debut.
Albers’ first MLB start was probably a lot like he had dreamed it would be, as he pitched 8.1 innings of shutout ball, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out two during the Twinkies’ 7-0 victory over the Royals.
Despite the victory, the Twins still remain well out of playoffs contention, but they may have a future arm to look forward to in Andrew Albers, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, August 6, 2013.
