Stat Line of the Night — 8/8/2013 — Tim Lincecum
Tim Lincecum entered Thursday’s action in search of his first win since recording a no-hitter back on July 13th of this season. The Giants have lost each of his three starts since he accomplished the feat, but that skid came to an end thanks to another near-perfect performance from “The Freak.”
Lincecum stymied the Brewers lineup throughout the day, allowing just one hit and one walk while striking out eight over the course of eight shutout innings. But without a no-hitter on the line, Lincecum was given the hook after 108 pitches. He would watch the bullpen blow the shutout, but they were able to preserve the 4-1 victory.
At this point in the season, Lincecum owns a 6-11 record and a 4.18 ERA. Things haven’t been pretty at times for the 29-year-old righty, but he has also manufactured two of the most dominating pitching performances from the 2013 MLB season. Yesterday’s start was one of them, and it earns him “The Stat Line of the Night” for Thursday, August 8, 2013.
