Stat Line of the Night — 8/27/2013 — Shane Victorino
The Boston Red Sox and Baltimore Orioles kicked off a three-game set last night that could very well determine which of these two teams—along with the Tampa Bay Rays—will finish atop the AL East. And following last night’s offensive outburst from Shane Victorino, it appears as though the Red Sox are now in the driver’s seat.
In four plate appearances against the Orioles, the Red Sox’s right fielder racked up two homers, a double, a walk, four runs and a career-high seven RBIs. Those numbers were more than enough for Boston’s pitching staff, as they emerged with the 13-2 victory over their division rivals.
With the win, the Sox now hold a 2.5-game lead over the Rays and a 6.5-game lead over the Orioles for top spot in the AL East. As for Victorino, he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, August 27, 2013.
