Stat Line of the Night — 8/29/2013 — Derek Carr
Stat Line of the Night — 9/2/2013 — Jameis Winston
With EJ Manuel making the jump to the NFL, many Florida State Seminoles fans may have been wondering how their team would fair in 2013. If freshman quarterback Jameis Winston‘s performance on Monday is any indication, it appears as though the Noles are going to be just fine.
Playing in his first game at the collegiate level, Winston looked more like a senior than a freshman, as he connected on an incredible 25 of 27 pass attempts for 356 yards and four touchdowns. And if that wasn’t already enough, he would also add 25 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown to his stat line, as the Seminoles cruised to the 41-13 victory over their newest ACC rivals, the University of Pittsburgh Panthers.
The Seminoles entered the 2013 NCAA college football campaign in search of their second consecutive ACC title. Accomplishing that feat may be difficult with a freshman quarterback (especially after what we saw from Clemson during their opener against Georgia on Saturday), but Winston doesn’t look like your typical freshman quarterback at the moment. He earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, September 2, 2013.
