Celebration Fail: Here’s the Most Embarrassing Play of the 2013 NFL Season, Courtesy of Danny Trevathan (Video)
There was a lot for the Denver Broncos and their fans to like about last night’s 49-27 thrashing of the Baltimore Ravens. After all, they blew out the defending Super Bowl champions and got revenge for a major upset all at once, killing two proverbial birds with one stone—or 52 Ravens with seven touchdown passes.
However, the Broncos still need to work on a few things if they’re going to fully atone for last year’s disappointing playoff loss and make it all the way to the Super Bowl. For starters, they’re going to have to figure out a way not to come out sluggish every time a little inclement weather delays a game. And, perhaps more importantly, they’re going to have to work on not dropping the football right before crossing the goal line. Right, Danny Trevathan?
Last night the Broncos linebacker intercepted a Joe Flacco pass at the start of the 4th quarter and ran it back for what should have been a pick-six that should have put the final nail in the Ravens’ coffin. However, in what will almost certainly be the most embarrassing play of the 2013 NFL Season, Trevathan dropped the ball before he crossed the goal line, which resulted in a touchback.
I bet his conversation with head coach John Fox after that was pretty awkward.
