high school football player attacks opponent with his own helmet

Take a close look at the photo above. Do you see what’s going on there?

Well, I’ll tell you, just in case you can’t quite make it out. That is an image of one high school football player attacking another high school football player with the helmet that he’d just ripped off his opponent’s head.

It happened last Friday night during a game in Eastern Pennsylvania between Hamburgh High School and Annville-Cleona High School. A scrum for a loose football turned into a bit of a brawl, and Hamburg senior Joseph Cominsky lost his cool, yanked the helmet off Annville-Cleona lineman Josh Hartman, and hit him on the head with it, not once, but twice.

After that, one of Hartman’s Annville-Cleona teammates, a kid named Taylor Prentice, tackled Cominsky to the ground. Both ended up getting ejected and will now have to sit out one game.

Of course, Cominsky is facing a lot more punishment than a one-game ban. The police are investigating the fight and trying to figure out whether they should press charges (Um, yes).  And even if they don’t, there’s a good chance that Cominsky’s own school will take further action.

Take a look at the video:

Where do the kids learn this stuff anyway?

Oh. Right.
