Stat Line of the Night — 9/9/2013 — LeSean McCoy
LeSean McCoy‘s name may appear in the headline, but there are a few Eagles players who deserve consideration for “The Stat Line of the Night,” thanks to the implementation of Chip Kelly‘s up-tempo offense.
With Philly’s offense playing in hurry-up mode throughout most of the game, they were able to run 77 plays—despite having a sizable lead throughout most of the 60 minute contest. Of those 77 plays, 31 were rushes by LeSean McCoy, and the result of those 31 rushes by “Shady” was an NFL-leading 184 yards and a touchdown. The Eagles running back would also add a five yard reception, as his team held off a late charge from the Redskins to take this week one contest by a score of 33-27.
Both Michael Vick (203 passing yards, 54 rushing yards, three total touchdowns) and DeSean Jackson (104 receiving yards, one touchdown) would also put up impressive numbers, but Chip Kelly’s offense seemed to benefit his running back the most on this evening, as McCoy earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, September 9, 2013.
