Stat Line of the Night — 9/16/2013 — Andrew Cashner
The San Diego may have one of the worst offenses in Major League Baseball, but not even a lack of runs was going to stop Andrew Cashner from getting his team the victory on Monday night.
Cashner was absolutely incredible against the Pittsburgh Pirates, as he allowed just one hit and no walks while striking out seven during his complete-game shutout performance. As for the Padres’ offense, they could only muster two runs, but on this occasion that was all they needed to earn the 2-0 victory.
Cashner’s only blemish on the evening was a single he allowed to Jose Tabata in the seventh inning. He came that close to pitching a perfect game, but he still earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Monday, September 16, 2013.
