Stat Line of the Night — 9/17/2013 — Tanner Roark
With less than two weeks remaining in the regular season and their playoff hopes quickly fading, losing is no longer an option for the Washington Nationals. And after winning their first game of a doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves, Tanner Roark made sure that the Nats completed the sweep with a lights-out effort on the mound during their second game of the day.
Making only his third start of the season, Roark limited the Braves to just two hits and one walk over the course of seven shutout innings. He would strike out six in the process before handing the ball over the the Nats bullpen. And they would close things out from there, securing the 4-0 victory for the Washington Nationals.
With the win, the Nats sit 4.5 games back of the second NL Wild Card spot with just 11 games remaining. As for Roark, he improves to 7-0 on the season with a ridiculous 1.08 ERA and 0.84 WHIP, while also earning “The Stat Line of the Night” for Tuesday, September 17, 2013.
