Gruesome Injury: Iranian Soccer Player Breaks Leg in Half (Video)
Don’t you just hate it when you’re playing soccer and your leg breaks in half? I’m sure Ferydoon Zandi does. He experienced just such an annoyance on Saturday.
Okay, all jokes aside, this is horrible, horrible stuff. Zandi is a 34-year-old German-born Iranian soccer player. He’s played professionally for a number of teams in four different countries and currently finds himself playing for Al Ahli in Qatar. On Saturday, just three games into his stint in Qatar, Zandi was going to take a shot on goal when an opposing player got the ball first, causing Zandi’s leg to strike the defender’s leg instead of the ball. And that caused his leg to snap clean in half.
I really wish I could say this was the first time I had ever seen this happen, but I cannot. It’s happened before, and it will probably happen again.
In any case, take a look at the video if you think you can stomach it:
According to Fox Soccer, Ferydoon was hoping to play for Iran in the 2014 World Cup. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen now. Bummer.
