Stat Line of the Night — 10/2/2013 — Dave Bolland
When the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Dave Bolland from the Chicago Blackhawks, they knew they were getting a Stanley Cup champion that could add some much-needed depth down the middle. Bolland is bound to provide the Leafs with just that, and last night he added in a few goals as well, just for good measure.
Coming off a 4-3 victory over the Habs on Tuesday, Toronto was looking to start the season off with back-to-back victories, and they would do just that thanks in large part to Bolland’s two-goal performance. The 27-year-old broke a 1-1 tie in the third period with his first goal of the season, and he followed that up with a power-play goal to make it 3-1, which is how the game would end.
Playing in the newly-formed Atlantic Division, the Leafs will be hard-pressed to make the playoffs ahead of teams like the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins and Ottawa Senators. A strong start to the season will certainly help their cause, and Bolland has done his part to ensure they get out to that strong start, as he earns “The Stat Line of the Night” for Wednesday, October 2, 2013.
