Here’s the Cheapest Cheap Shot You’ll See in College Football All Year (GIF)
It’s a tough time for Texas Longhorns football. Last year they finished with a respectable No. 19 ranking, but their longtime rival, Texas A&M—who ditched the Big 12 for the SEC–had the Heisman Trophy winner and finished in the No. 5 spot. This year both A&M and Texas Tech are in the top 20, while the Longhorns are barely pulling out victories over Iowa State. Iowa State!
So yes, it’s a humbling time at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. Unfortunately, not everyone on the Texas Longhorns is handling the downturn with class and dignity.
Enter Mike Davis. Last night against the Cyclones in Ames, Iowa, right after his own team had scored a touchdown to take a 24-20 lead, he delivered the cheapest, dirtiest low blow you’ll see all year.
Davis was given a 15-yard penalty for unnecessary roughness. However, that probably won’t be the end of it. The Big 12 is almost certainly going to hand down further punishment. It probably won’t be as stiff as it should be—suspended for the rest of the year would suit the douchebag crime—but it’ll be something.
Simply put, that play was downright Ndamukong Suh-like.
